Introduction

PSYPACT stands for The Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact. This is a groundbreaking initiative designed to facilitate telepsychology across state boundaries. This compact aims to address the growing need for psychological services, making it easier for licensed psychologists to provide care to patients in different states without the cumbersome process of obtaining licenses in each state. Here, we’ll explain what you need to know about PSYPACT, its participating states, benefits for patients, and the new possibilities it opens for mental health providers.

What Does it Do?

PSYPACT is an interstate compact designed by the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) to allow psychologists to practice telepsychology or offer temporary psychological services across state lines within PSYPACT-participating states. The compact leverages advancements in telehealth to improve public access to psychological services, ensuring that patients can receive care from psychologists regardless of geographical barriers.

Where Does it Apply?

As of January 2024, numerous states have joined PSYPACT, with others considering legislation to join the compact. States that are currently participating include:
