Dr. Hulsey is a licensed Psychologist and part-time clinician at Elysian Psychological Services. She completed her doctoral studies in Clinical Psychology at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas with a concentration in Forensics. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Psychology and predoctoral internship in Health Services Psychology at Mississippi State Hospital in Whitfield, Mississippi. She has worked and trained in a variety of clinical settings including an outpatient university clinic, private practice, Bureau of Prison Federal Medical Center, and inpatient, substance use, and forensic work based at an in-patient state hospital.
Dr. Hulsey’s work and experience expands across an array of trauma, personality, and behavioral difficulties. She also treats depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationship issues, life transitions, grief, and adjustment issues. Dr. Hulsey believes that each person innately has what they need within them to live a meaningful and fulfilling life, even when suffering and distress are present. As no one should suffer alone, her desire is to walk alongside you on your journey to healing emphasizing trust, authenticity, safety, and empowerment.
Her approach involves evidence based and empirically supported approaches from a collaborative, compassionate, values-focused, and personalized perspective. Her formal training includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic therapies, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
